Owner & Founder -

I have owned and operated Jay-Crew Landscape for the past 15 years. I started mowing yards while I was a student at Yorktown High School. I got more experience when I worked for the Players Club Golf Course as a maintenance worker. That job led to more lawn and landscaping work around the Club.
While completing my accounting degree at Ball State, I started Jay-Crew. As the owner of the business, I know what Harry Truman meant when he used the slogan "the buck stops here." Working with clients to find solutions for their landscaping needs is the most important part of my job.
When I'm not working at Jay-Crew, I enjoy golf and exercise. I also follow baseball, basketball and football--both college and pro teams. I serve on the board of the Yorktown YMCA. Owning rental properties in Delaware County keeps me busy as well. My wife, Darcy, and I enjoy spending time with friends and family. We welcomed our first child, a son named Micah on October 4, 2009. Micah has changed our lives…for the better and we really are enjoying learning how to be parents. We attend Union Chapel Ministry regularly.
Our mission at Jay-Crew is to provide exceptional products and services to our clients by a highly trained and enthusiastic staff that uses proven horticultural and construction practices of the highest industry standards. We plan to do that on a daily basis for all our customers. Any time you have questions, want an estimate, or simply want to talk, please call the office and ask for me. |

Landscape Sales/Design -
|
|
I'm the landscape designer and sales manager at Jay-Crew. This is my eighth year with the company. I studied landscape architecture and natural resources while getting my degree at Ball State University. I have more than 20 years of experience in the landscape design/build industry. My responsibilities at Jay-Crew include preparing designs and/or estimates for both residential and commercial landscape projects.
I really enjoy working with clients to find appropriate solutions for their landscape needs. I am conscientious about finding creative yet practical designs that address the desires of the customer and the site conditions of their particular property. The unique challenges each project brings make them interesting.
When I'm not working at Jay-Crew I enjoy hunting, fishing and spending time with my wife, Amy, and our daughters Abby and Colleen. The girls keep us very busy with their involvement in school activities, sports, and 4-H. |

Landscape Sales -
|
|
Hello my name is Todd Stone and, I am a proud member of the fine staff here at Jay Crew. I spent the first 20 some years of my working life in the home improvement industry. Over that 20 year span I was trained to exceed customer expectation. Due to the twists and turns of life I left the home improvement industry in 2003. This left me with some choices on what to do with the rest of my professional life. After a year or two of searching I landed here. I had met Jason Brooks through a mutual friend during those two years. One day it dawned on me that my training in customer service would possibly be a good fit with Jay-Crew. I contacted Jason, we met and the rest you are reading right now. I began in '07 mowing lawns (many of yours) and have moved to a sales/service roll. I have been around a lot of service companies in a lot of different fields, and I must say that Jay Crew is certainly a fine organization and I am fired up to be a part of it.
If not at work I am participating in sporting events with my
children and wife of 20 years. (it might be 19, I think!) Well it's been a long time! LOL. My daughter Tayler is involved in volleyball, my son Tate is loves baseball and basketball. My wife Tisha is my rock and has proven to be my best friend. Other then attending sporting events we hang out together and attend church together. I love the outdoors. Anything to do with hunting or fishing we participate in.
In closing I would like to say that I am excited to get things rolling in
this season. I look forward to meeting many of you and taking care of your landscaping needs. I look forward to proving my words by my actions.

Office Manager -
|
|
Hello, my name is Jan Phelps and I'm the Office Manager at Jay-Crew.
In the morning I'm usually the one who answers the telephone. If there are questions about your account, you can talk with me about them. We strive at Jay-Crew to provide exceptional service to our clients and I hope to do just that on a daily basis. I truly enjoy what I do each day.
My background is varied-from teaching high school for several years, to working in the Information Services Department at a Fortune 200 company to owning my own retail floral and gift shop (in partnership with my sister). I hold bachelor's and master's degrees in business education and have worked in offices for many years.
My husband, Mick, and I both graduated from the Master Gardeners' program a few years ago. We designed and maintained extensive flower gardens/beds (as well as planting a variety of deciduous trees) on 7.5 acres at our last home.
While we are Randolph County natives, we have lived in Delaware County for
more than 20 years. During my leisure hours I love to scrapbook, make my own greeting cards using rubber stamps, read and volunteer at my church. |

Operations Manager |
 |
Hello! I am the Operations Manager here at Jay-Crew Landscape and am in my second year of service. I schedule the jobs and services, do the purchasing, manage our fleet of vehicles and equipment and developed our lawn service division. I have spent the past 33 years in the “green industry” and have extensive knowledge and experience providing service delivery. In 2006, I “retired” from The Scotts/Miracle-Gro Company as a Regional Director with 27 years seniority. After a few years, I had a strong desire to continue my career in this industry. I have a strong appreciation for the professional and caring environment at Jay-Crew and am glad to be a part of the team.
When I am not a work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Maetta, our children and grandchildren. I also enjoy reading, travel, sports, music and gardening. We are very active in our local church and have a strong interest in international volunteer service projects.
If I can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to call me.

| Steve Michael |
Crew Leader |
 |
I’m Steve Michael and I’m one of the crew leaders at Jay-Crew. I was born and raised in Anderson and started traveling to Muncie to work at Jay- Crew a few years ago. I started working in construction at the age of sixteen and that’s where I got my first experience in irrigation, landscape and hardscape projects.
I really enjoy the various clients we work with. My favorite is working on hardscapes. I have eighteen years of experience in construction, irrigation, and hardscape work. Some of my favorite projects include working on large, complex designs. Trying to figure out and solve multiple issues that can arise with these larger projects is challenging. I’m always up for a challenge.
You may have seen some of the projects I’ve worked on here in Muncie. One public project was the parking lot behind Scotty’s in the Ball State Village area. I also worked on retaining walls at Taylor University and have done several residential brick paver patios and walks around town—I also work on residential and commercial landscaping projects.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy fishing, camping, and spending time with my family.
